Driver under the influence plows car into police cruiser sending officer to hospital, police say

WESTBROOK (NEWS CENTER Maine) — A man from Westbrook who was allegedly drinking and driving, was arrested for plowing his car into a police cruiser

Police were on their way to William Clarke Drive Thursday around 3 a.m. after they received a call that a man was passed out in a car.

Officer Kipp Bleicken was driving west on William Clarke Drive when police say 29-year-old Christian Yannick Levry crossed the center line and hit Officer Bleicken's cruiser.

Both cars were damaged, and Officer Bleicken was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Levry is being charged with operating under the influence, reckless conduct and aggravated assault.

Levry is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.

He was convicted of OUI in 2017 in Cumberland County Unified Court.
