Meteorologist Joe Cupo has been part of the NEWS CENTER team since 1979. He forecasts each weekday for WCSH NEWS CENTER 6 at 5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm, and 11:00pm.

Joe holds a Bachelor of Science degree in geology, and received a Master of Science degree in atmospheric Science from State University of New York (SUNY) Albany. He did not choose this field of study specifically to pursue a career in television, however, "in graduate school I met a TV weathercaster and he suggested that I try my hand at TV weather. So I did!"

Because so many people are depending on him for information, Joe takes his responsibility for preparing a statewide forecast seriously. People make decisions about their travel and many other activities based on what Joe tells them the weather is going to be. At the same time, he likes to have fun and keep it in perspective. After all, a rainy weekend isn't the worst thing in the world!

Joe lives in Falmouth with his wife Debbie. He enjoys studying history, especially how weather has played a role in historic events. He is an avid cyclist and a long-time spokesperson for the "MS Bike to the Breakwater," an important summer event which raises money to help people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Joe also enjoys tending his garden.
