(NEWS CENTER) -- It's time to take center stage again with Maine State Theater! We're really getting into full swing all over the state with shows in Bidddeford, South Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, and Kennebunk.
First up we've got Over The River and Through The Woods at Biddeford's City Theater.
Nick spends each Sunday with his four grandparents for dinner until one day when he's offered the job of his dreams in Seattle. Nick's grandparents, struggling to keep the family together pull out all the stops to keep him around, even inviting the girl of his dreams over for dinner as bait.
Following that we've got Mad Horse Theatre Company's The Totalitarians in South Portland.
When dopey Nebraska candidate (and former roller derby star) Penelope Easter surges in popularity following a go-for-broke speech, her adviser Francine embarks on a wild ride of professional and personal upheaval as she fights to push Penelope onto the national stage.
Up at the Public Theater of Lewiston they're doing a show that's very dear to my heart, John Cariani's Last Gas.
The play follows Nat Paradis, owner of the last gas station before the Canadian border, who goes through a turbulent weekend when his best friend offers him a pair of coveted Sox/Yankees tickets and an old flame returns to town. It's a heartfelt show about the struggles of being who we are.
Next we've got Murder for Two at the Penobscot Theater Company in Bangor.
Everyone's a suspect in Murder for Two, a hilarious musical murder mystery with a twist: One actor investigates the crime, one actor plays all the suspects, and they both play the piano. A zany blend of classic musical comedy and madcap mystery, this fast-paced whodunit is a highly theatrical duet loaded with killer laughs.
Finally, in Kennebunk at Storm Warnings Repertory Theater we have The Lift.
The play follows Lily and Rose, two dancers who meet and fall in love at college in the 80s. Years later, after avoiding her 30th college reunion, Lily is forced to confront her memories with the reality of Rose in this journey of memory, regret, and second chances.
