Huckfest is a Wild Time

The Forks, MW (NEWS CENTER)-- Grand Falls looks like a mini Niagara Falls. One day each year, word spreads among the paddling community and kayakers converge on the falls and paddle over them. It's wet, wild and dangerous and where there have been some serious accidents, there has not been a fatal, yet.

That is why there is no organization running this event. There is no sanctioning body and no insurance. Some of the whitewater guides who work up on the Kennebec River stand by with throw bags should someone need assistance.

Huckfest is an amazing event and watching the kayakers is thrilling. However, it is fraught with danger and not recommended for anyone except the most experienced.
