Caring is key in an argument, says Burke

(NEWS CENTER) -- Anger in a relationship isn't unusual, but there is a more efficient way to solve the issue. Dr. Jack Burke, a licensed marriage and family therapist, said communication is once again key during a fight.

"We do our best job when we manage our ego," said Burke.

For the anger causer, Burke said do not defend, explain or minimize. Burke said the key element is caring the partner is upset. For those upset, they shouldn't drag up the past or the person, it needs to be about the issue. said Burke.

Burke said a key question to help end an argument is asking "what do you need" sincerely. He calls it the golden question, that can lead to resolving an issue.
