BANGOR (AP) -- A former restaurant owner in Maine is going to prison for 10 years for repeatedly having sex with a girl when she was between 11 and 13 and inappropriately touching a second girl.
Jack Dempsey Bailey II, who owned the now-closed Bubba Jack's restaurant in Bangor, was sentenced Tuesday in Penobscot County Superior Court. In a jury-waived trial last month, the 47-year-old Bailey was convicted of 10 counts of gross sexual assault and two counts of unlawful sexual contact, as well as sexual exploitation.
Prosecutors say the victims were friends of Bailey's daughter who routinely spent weekends at Bailey's Bangor apartment from 2003 to 2005. Bailey's attorney says his client maintains his innocence and will appeal to the Maine Supreme Judicial Court.
