Body found in Stacyville

STACYVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State Police say deer hunters discovered the body of a man about a mile in the woods off Route 11 in Penobscot County.

Detectives, game wardens and the officials with the State Medical Examiner's Office removed the remains Friday afternoon and an autopsy is planned for Monday.

Police say the man's body was decomposing, and he may have died sometime in the past two months. Missing persons cases are being reviewed.

Officials say the dead man is described as middle-age. A height and weight estimate will be determined following the autopsy.

The clothing the man was wearing was a blue and white knit cap with the name "Chris" marked inside, blue and white plaid button down shirt, khaki pants, white New Balance sneakers - size 10, and a brown jacket.

A black, nylon briefcase was also found near the body. Investigators say the briefcase contained additional clothing.
