PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police have captured the passenger involved in a high-speed chase through Portland on Wednesday.

42-year-old Richard Maynard of Portland was arrested in a old Orchard Beach hotel Thursday.

Police charged him with aggravated trafficking of heroin. Maynard already had two prior warrants for his arrest.

Police also arrested Maynard's girlfriend, 31-year-old Tara Bucknell of Portland. She was in the hotel at the time of Maynard's arrest. They say she was not in the car at the time of the chase. Bucknell is charged with hindering apprehension.

The chase began around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. It ended at Exit 5 of Interstate 295 near Denny's Restaurant on Congress Street.

The driver, 32-year-old Derrick Decenso of Portland, was arrested just after the chase ended. Police say Maynard took off after the car stopped.

All three are being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
