Two injured, one arrested in hit and run

WINDHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- One man has been arrested on drunk driving charges after a hit and run in Windham early Sunday morning. 

Around quarter to one, a Windham police officer says he watched a pick-up truck hit two pedestrians on Tandberg Trail near the Sand Bar Road.  The truck then took off.

The officer who witnessed the crash helped the victims while another officer chased down the truck.

Police arrested 30-year old Richard Tarvers and charged him OUI, though the results of his blood alcohol test are still pending.

He's being held at the Cumberland County Jail.

Windham police are not yet releasing the names of the victims, but tell NEWS CENTER the male is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center with numerous injuries.  The woman who was hit is in fair condition.

Windham police continue to investigate.
