PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - What do small businesses think about the pace of the economic recovery?
Alan Hinsey, Host of Mainebiz Sunday, talks with many business owners in Maine every week and he spoke with us tell us about what small business owners are saying.
He says the NFIB Small Business Optimism Index is up for January. But businesses are still holding back on hiring and sales remain slow. Capital outlays are up but only slightly. Businesses are paying for maintenance. And inventories are only slightly up.
The overall takeaway: Small businesses in Maine are much more cautious than larger businesses when it comes to the economy and spending.
