(NEWS CENTER) -- State Police in Maine say a man from Readfield was arrested in Massachusetts and charged in connection with a fire in Central Maine that left one person dead.
David Silva, 32, was arrested Thursday in Carver, Massachusetts. Silva is charged in Maine with murder, robbery and arson. State Police spokesman Steve McCausland says Silva will be held in Massachusetts on a fugitive from justice charge.
Investigators recovered a body from the scene of the fire on Church Road in Readfield. The Maine State Medical Examiner's Office says additional work will be needed to determine the identity and the cause of death. The body, which was burned beyond recognition, was found in the basement.
McCausland says Detectives from the State Police and investigators from the Maine Fire Marshal's office went to Massachusetts Wednesday night after a pickup truck owned by one of the residents of the Readfield house was discovered in Marshfield.
Town Officials confirm the house on Church Road was owned by Robert and Janet Orr.
Neighbors tell NEWS CENTER the Orr's were very social people and that their driveway was often filled with vehicles. However they say when the fire was reported the driveway was empty.
