SKOWHEGAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Last October Somerset County Dispatch started posting information from 911 calls on their website. Some people now say that's an invasion of their privacy, while others consider it a service to the community.

Somerset County Director of Communication Michael Smith says the dispatch log posts the name of the officer responding to a 911 call; the street the call came from; and the nature and time of the emergency.

Officials say what's in the log is public information. It stays on the website for thirty days before being removed.

Officials with Somerset County Dispatch say the log was started as a way to deal with the high volume of calls from news organizations trying to get more information about emergencies.
