BRISTOL, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Sheriff's deputies in Lincoln County have arrested a fugitive from Massachusetts, following a short manhunt that resulted in a lockdown at the elementary school.
Ruben Hernandez, 36, of Webster, Massachusetts was wanted on warrants from Massachusetts for Probation Violations stemming from charges of Armed Robbery, Assault and Battery, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Sheriff Todd Brackett says they received information Hernandez was at a home close to the Bristol Consolidated school. They ordered the school locked down as a precaution. As it turned out the Hernandez was not at the house, but was spotted in a car that was then stopped by deputies, who made the arrest at the intersection of Route 130 and Lower Round Pond Road.
Investigators say Hernandez was staying at friend's home.
He is being held at Two Bridges Regional Jail pending an extradition hearing.
