BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A Parkman man pled not guilty to weapons charges in federal court Friday.
43-year old Michael DeMaria was charged with illegal possession of firearms. As a bail condition he was supposed to surrender his weapons.
His bail was revoked when authorities received information that DeMaria tried to sell his guns. A court affidavit states DeMaria had numerous weapons placed all over his property and had become obsessed with training to fight against the government.
DeMaria's defense attorney Steve Smith says these charges have to do with a bitter divorce.
"As a result of that divorce, certain allegations were made and a protection order was issued," said Smith. "As a result of that protection order, these charges have really snow-balled into where we are today."
DeMaria's next court date is scheduled to be in August. He remains in the Somerset County Jail.
