BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- For the past few months, 8-year old Issac Bushway has been hanging out with the Bangor Comrades American Legion baseball team. But he's been more than just their bat boy.
Issac's dad is serving his third tour of duty in Afghanistan. Issac originally became a part of the Comrades team as a way to help the summer go by a little faster.
"Issac is not just a bat boy," says centerfielder Christian Corneil, "he's like our younger brother."
"If he can come here for a couple of hours out of the day and take his mind off it because obviously he misses his dad, then that makes me feel better than just coming to play baseball. It's bigger than baseball," says 2nd baseman Cody McInnis
Issac's relationship with the boys won't end with the season. The Comrades say they're definitely going to keep in touch and even scout him in the coming years. Players say Issac has definitely become part of the family.
