SOUTH PORTLAND, ME (NEWS CENTER) -- A man who knows a thing or two about living with a substance abuser brought his story to Maine Thursday.
Boston Celtics forward Glen Davis was keynote speaker at a fundraiser for the non profit organization 'Day One.' the organization helps young adults and their families with the crippling effect of substance abuse.
Davis talked about growing up in a home where his mother was a drug addict. He says he looked toward basketball and organizations like 'Day One' for support. "Because of organizations like this i'm here and i'm a living testimony when you have guidance and someone that believes in you, there are amazing things you can accomplish."
Celtics legend Dave Cowens introduced Glen Davis. There was also a silent auction and raffle to raise money for the agency. For more information you can go to the Day One Website.
