Samantha has volunteered in an ongoing way with several non-profit organizations, including the National MS Society, the Brain Injury Association of Maine, and United Way of Mid-Maine. She has devoted more than 100 hours with Maine General Medical Center.
Samantha had a stroke at eight years old and has to work hard to regain her physical abilities. She has regained the use of her right side. Said her nominator Angel Pelletier, "she is an amazingly strong individual who has the ability to understand others who are struggling, and because of this empathy and compassion, wants to do what she can to help others."
