AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The local man who made national news this week accusing a former Syracuse Basketball Coach of sexual assault was in the courtroom Thursday facing his own charges.
Zach Tomaselli is charged with sexually assaulting a 13 year old boy.
In court on Thursday his attorney, Justin Leary, was looking to have a more than 3 hour recorded interview with police removed from the evidence for the trial.
Leary says after more than two and a half hours into that interview Tomaselli makes incriminating statements that were not made voluntarily.
Leary told the judge the detective in the recording misquoted the law to Tomaselli and coerced the 23 year old to make those incriminating statements.
The District Attorney admits the law was misquoted but says Tomaselli's statements were made after a 'constellation' of events and that Tomaselli made them voluntarily.
