WATERVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - Jeff Hanson, Step-father of missing toddler Ayla Reynolds' mother, says blood found in the basement of the house where the girl was living was Ayla's.
Reynolds' family posted the information on the website aylareynolds.com on Sunday evening.
Hanson tells NEWS CENTER that police told the family the blood belonged to the girl and that they could use the information at their discretion.
Hanson says there is "more blood than a small cut would produce."
Hanson says the family is more determined than ever to find Ayla alive. They are calling for the person who knows what happened to Ayla to come foreward.
Anyone with information is asked to get in touch with State Police.
UPDATE: State police confirm that some of the blood tested was Ayla's. Spokesman Steve McCausland says other blood samples are still being tested.
McCausland would not confirm the amount of blood found.
