BINGHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- State police say the body of a man has been found in a parking lot in Bingham.
According to investigators, the body of 61 year-old Ernest Sayers of Haverhill, MA was discovered in a parking lot off of Baker Street around 7am Sunday morning by residents.
According to their investigation, police say the middle-aged man from Massachusetts was with friends Saturday night, and left to walk home. They believe he may have been walking back to his girlfriend's house where he had been living for the past few weeks.
"We also have detectives interviewing people that were with the gentleman last night," said Lt. Christopher Coleman with the State Police Major Crimes Unit.
"It appears that he left a gathering sometime in the late evening, and he wanted to walk home," said Coleman. "So we don't know if something happened along the way."
Coleman said it appears Sayers was cutting through the Baker Street parking lot just off Main Street.
State police say they have not determined the cause of his death and that the investigation has only just begun.
