ALFRED, Maine (AP) -- Dallas Sizemore claims appropriate procedures weren't in place
to protect him from fellow inmates who were apparently friends of
Sizemore was accused of holding a 12-gauge shotgun when it
discharged into Scott Vermette's mouth in January 2003. He was
awaiting trial at York County Jail when he was assaulted in the
shower of the maximum security unit.
Sizemore was knocked to the floor and severely beaten. Two
inmates were charged in connection with the assault. Sizemore
ultimately pleaded guilty to manslaughter and is currently serving
his sentence at the Maine State Prison in Warren.
