TOPSHAM, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A home in Topsham was heavily damaged by fire late Friday night.

Topsham Fire Chief Brian Stockdale said the two adults and two children who live at 10 Lovers Lane all got out safely as flames overtook their home just before midnight.  The roof and front side of the home were destroyed by the fire.

Officials say it was a second alarm fire that involved 40 firefighters from six different departments.

The State Fire Marshal's Office has been called in to investigate the cause.
