BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- One year after city leaders in Bangor broke ground on a new arena, the project is inching closer to completion at Bass Park thanks to the dozens of workers on the job.

Charlie Baker of 'Industrial Roofing' has been leading a team of 17 people working on top of the new arena. They were contracted to work on the roof by Cianbro Corp. which is building the multi million dollar site.

Project leaders say that the steel framework for the arena was finished over the winter. Baker's crew was brought in last spring to deck and insulate the roof. Workers say they don't mind working eighty feet in the air adding that they're enjoying the view as well as their role in this massive project for the region.

"It's a good felling...it makes you feel good inside," said Baker, "knowing that you had something to do with building a big monument...it's a monument I think...it will be here for awhile."

In all Cianbro has more than 130 full time people working on the new arena. Officials say for now the project is still on time for its marked completion, which is the fall of 2013.
