ALFRED, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A man from Limington was given a lengthy sentence today for the execution style murder of his wife back in 2010.
Patrick Dapolito was on cocaine when he shot his wife of only 3-months, in the head. Kelly Winslow was handcuffed and defenseless when she was killed.
Patrick Dapolito was ordered to serve 55-years in prison. With a sentence that long it's likely he'll spend the rest of his life behind bars.
In York County Superior Court Justice John O'Neil heard conflicting stories about the man he was about to sentence for the execution style murder of his wife. On one hand Patrick Dapolito was described as a loving, caring father. But the prosecutor called him a controlling and abusive husband to his wife of 3-months Kelly Winslow. In the end it was that side of Dapolito the judge saw as he sentenced him.
"This crime was committed against a defenseless victim in an extremely brutal way it sits on the scales of the most serious way to commit this offense", said Judge John O'Neil.
Patrick Dapolito was given the opportunity to address the judge or the family members in court. He declined.
