BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- A man is going to be sentenced for a car crash last year that forever changed the life of his girlfriend.

Authorities say Gordon Cameron was driving drunk when he crashed his car on North Main Street in Brewer on the early morning of March 30, 2011. His then-girlfriend Corie Allen was riding with him. Cameron walked away from the crash but Allen was left paralyzed.

On Monday, Cameron pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and criminal O.U.I. The state wants him to serve two years in prison. Corie Allen says the sentence should be longer.

"I don't think it's fair," she said outside of the Penobscot Judicial Center, "he tried killing me..I know he did it purposely."

Prosecutors say in looking at the evidence, more signs indicated that Cameron swerved his car to scare Allen and then lost control sending it into the pole.

The state expects a sentence to be handed down by next week.
