HOULTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The Ellsworth man convicted of killing three people, two adults and a 10-year-old boy, is now going to prison for the rest of his life.
Thayne Ormsby was given three life sentences for three murders he comitted in July of 2010. The sentecne was handed down by Justice E. Allen Hunter Thursday afternoon inside Aroostook County Superior Court in Houlton.
Ormsby broke down as his mother and grand mother spoke on his behalf. He admitted to killing Jeffrey Ryan in cold blood back in 2010 by stabbing him to death on his property in Amity. Ormbsy then said he killed Jeffrey Ryan's son Jesse Ryan and his friend Jason Dehahn to eliminate all witnesses.
For Ormsby's mother Maria, it was a difficult scene to watch.
"It was very very hard," she told reporters outside of the courthouse, "He's just a young boy...just a young boy."
Yet for family members of the victims who also spoke at the hearing, the long stiff sentence for Ormsby will never fit his crimes.
"When he {Ormsby} dies...goes and meets his maker...then real justice will happen," said Robert Dehahn, who is the father of Jason Dehahn.
Ormsby will serve his three life sentences concurrently. State prosecutors say he will likely never be eligible for parole.
