Maine Criminal Justice Academy welcomes new K9 teams

VASSALBORO, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Maine has some new law enforcement officers -- of the four-legged variety.

On Friday, seventeen canine teams graduated from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro.  The police officers and their dogs come from the state, county and municipal police ranks.

The new canine teams join about 80 other law enforcement canine teams on duty throughout the state.

Of the seventeen, six of the new teams are with state police, three are with the Corrections Department, and the rest are with county and municipal departments.
