ST. GEORGE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A woman from the Waldo County town of st. George is being charged with operating under the influence and hitting two utility poles. All while a seven year old child was in the vehicle.
Police say Kristen Staples, who's 27, was driving down route 131 in st. George when she hit one of the poles head on. then, a few minutes later, she hit another pole about five miles down the road.
Staples and the child were taken to the hospital to be check out and were treated for minor injuries.
Among the charges she now faces charges of driving while under the influence of drugs, driving to endanger, endangering the welfare of a child, leaving the scene of an accident. As of this Friday night, Staples is still being held at the Knox County Jail.
