PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- More than 30,000 people were expected to attend northern New England's largest one-day festival Sunday afternoon.
The 39th annual Old Port Festival in Portland kicked off with a parade Sunday morning in the city's Old Port section. The festival featured six stages of music, food, activities, and arts and crafts.
The event continued into early Sunday evening, and the nearly perfect weather drew plenty of people out on the streets. Organizers call the festival the unofficial kickoff of summer for residents and businesses.
