3 car crash at the intersection of Broadway and Burleigh St. in Bangor kills one.
BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - One person is dead after a three-car crash at a busy Bangor intersection Sunday night.
That person is 68-year-old Diane Morrison of Bangor.
It happened just about 6 o'clock at the intersection of Broadway and Burleigh Street, near the Gifford's Ice Cream shop.
The driver, 72-year-old Ralph Morrison, was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center and his condition is not known at this time.
The Morrison's vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai, was headed north on Broadway when it collided with a 2000 Toyota operated by 71 year old Wynona Butera of Bangor, also headed north on Broadway. Passengers in her car, 71 year old Evelyn Dowdy, and 90 year old Mary Cox were either transported or went to a local emergency room on their own and conditions are not known at this time.
The Morrison's vehicle careened off the 2000 Toyota and struck a third vehicle head on, that was travelling south on Broadway at the intersection, a 2002 GMC operated by 46 year old Lisa Pelkey of Eddington. Her passengers, 47 year old Raymond Pelkey and 11 year old Alyssa Pelkey, along with Lisa, were all transported to EMMC Emergency Room and their conditions are also unknown at this time.
The Bangor Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division is still investigating the accident along with our Accident Reconstruction Team.
