(NEWS CENTER) - Wind power companies in Maine and Canada have announced a deal to run wind energy projects across the Northeast together.
First Wind Holdings and "Emera" Incorporated, based in Canada, closed the deal Friday.

There are four wind projects in Maine included in the venture: one in Mars Hill, Two in Stetson and one on Rollins Mountain.

The two companies have reformed in a new project called "Northeast Wind Partners."
Under the deal, First Wind retains 51 percent of the new company, Emera gets the rest.
Emera has invested a total of 211 million dollars to be part of the deal.
Company officials hope that the deal leads to 3 billion dollars investment in the region in coming years.
