BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Since this spring, Camp Capella has received almost $50,000 in donations to sponsor campers this summer.

Camp Capella received a matching grant for $25,000 and raised nearly double. So far, the camp has recieved $49,770 in donations.

The money will help about 150 people with disabilities spend a week at the camp in Dedham.

The latest sponsorship came from Miller Drug Store in Bangor.

The business raised $1,368 to send 9-year-old Brendon St. Amand to camp.

St. Amand, who has Autism, said he is thrilled to return to Camp Capella this year, "because I have fun with new friends, rowing on the boat, and swimming."

He said his goal for this year is to ride in a kayak.

"The camp couldn't exist without Miller Drug and other companies and other individuals," said Camp Capella Executive Director Dana Mosher.

"It's memories for a lifetime," said Mosher. "That's what this is all about."
