One person killed in Brownville flash flooding

  • Storm damage on Main Rd in Brownville

BROWNVILLE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --Police say Charles Bromiley, 29, of Milo, was killed when his car crashed into a washed-out section of road in Brownville after flash floods Saturday night.

Bromiley was driving on Pleasant River Road sometime after 7:30 p.m. Saturday night. He died upon impact of the car crash.

Several Brownville roads are closed or under construction after Saturday's flooding.

According to DOT officials, one section of High Street was destroyed after just 30 minutes of rainfall.

About 8 inches of rain swept through the town.

Several roads remain closed in Brownville due to flooding from Saturday's severe thunderstorms. 

Maine DOT officials say the following roads are closed in Brownville:

Stickney Hill Road

NW Ridge Road

Lakeview Road

Church Street

High Street to Williamsburg Road

Emergency officials are currently on scene assessing the damage from Saturday's storms.
