JACKMAN, Maine (AP) - A Maine border patrol agent is recovering from a gunshot wound in a weekend shooting at a home in Jackman that left another man dead.
Authorities tell the Bangor Daily News that three border patrol agents responded to a reported domestic dispute Saturday night after receiving a call for help from the Somerset County Sheriff's Department.
A spokeswoman for Customs and Border Protection says a person within the house opened fire on the agents when they arrived at the home. The agents returned fire.
State police later entered the home and found a suspect dead.
The agent was taken to a hospital for treatment, but was later released.
Authorities have not released the identity of the man who was killed. The names of the agents have also not been released.
The Maine attorney general is investigating.
