BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- More than 200 kids from York to Van Buren competed in the 35th annual Hershey's Track and Field Games on Tuesday at the Brewer Community School.
Despite the rainy conditions, many of them, like 13-year old Aspen Cote from Madawaska, still achieved their goals. "I've been going against the 2nd place winner, and I've always taken 2nd place, but now I finally beat her so it feels really good," she says.
Tim Baude, who is the state chair for the Hershey games in Maine, says the competition is constantly successful because of the versatility of the sport. "Track is such a great program for kids of all level and abilities," he says, "Because you're always competing against yourself."
Some of the winners from Tuesday's games will qualify to compete in the North American final which is in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
