BREWER, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- A fire at an apartment building in Brewer sent one man to the hospital.
Brewer Assistant Fire Chief Chris Dore said the fire took place on the second floor of the building in a corner room at 248 Center St.
Dore said when crews first arrived there was a man on the front lawn who suffered burns to his face and was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Dore said the fire was starved for air but there was a lot of heat and smoke damage to the building and because this is a large building there are many things crews have to worry about when they arrive at the scene.
"The size of the building, multiple apartment units. You never know how many people are gonna be home. You know this time a night people are home, cleaning up from dinner, watching TV. It's just a big building to search a lot of different room to search for people to make sure that they've all gotten out," Dore said.
Dore said he does not know what the condition of the burn victim is or what caused the fire.
