BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Sea Dog Brewing Company in Bangor unveiled its new dining area and brewery expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

General Manager of the Bangor Sea Dog Brewing Company Larry Killam said the pub has been planning this expansion for about a year, but most of the work was done in the last couple of months. Now that it is complete, Killam thinks the new dining area called the "Barrel Room" will bring a new type of atmosphere to the brew pub.

"I kind of think this space is gonna drive us. I think this space just has that feel, that karma, it's got its own personality," Killam said.

Killam credits that personality to the staff who helped pick out items for the Barrel Room.

"There's so many little things in here the staff was like I found a board let's put it somewhere or the soffit above the bar where the growlers and beer bottles and stuff are," Killam said.

According to Killam the Barrel Room will be open for private parties, but it will be available for the public to use on Fridays and Saturdays and for big occasions like the fourth of July.

Another part of the renovation included expanding the brewery.

The President of Sea Dog Brewing Company Fred Forsley said this will allow the brewery to produce more beer.

"It's allowing us to brew at two and three times a day over a week. So it's basically tripled our capacity," Forsley said.

Killam said this might not be the last project at the Sea Dog. He said sometime in the future the brew pub would like to add a beer garden to the patio.
