BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --- Authorities released new information on Friday regarding the suspect who caused a massive police standoff at his home in Lagrange on Thursday.
47-year-old Raymond Baker is facing four criminal charges, which include domestic violence, criminal restraint and assault. He plead not guilty to all of them on Friday at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
Police trailed Baker to his home on Brimstone Road on Thursday morning after he allegedly assaulted his wife and one other woman at a gas station in Orono. Baker remained on the phone with Penobscot County Sheriffs deputies. They eventually called in a state police tactical team and K9 units.
Investigators say at one point Baker threatened to 'commit suicide by cop.' What they didn't know is that at some point he escaped from the home and made it to Bangor.
Baker eventually turned himself into police. He has prior convictions for crimes committed in parts of Maine and New Hampshire.
He is now facing up to one year in prison on each of the four criminal charges.
