ELLSWORTH, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- One person is dead and three other people were taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital tonight after two pick up trucks crashed on route one in Ellsworth.

Ellsworth police said the driver of the truck going west bound on route one died when the drivers truck crossed over the center lane and hit another truck that was towing a camper that was going east.

Police said the truck towing the camper had three people inside the truck. Those three people were taken to the hospital but do not have life threatening injuries.

Police were reconstructing the scene to try and figure out what may have caused the accident. At this time police believe that speed was not a major factor in this accident.

"At this time none of the witnesses reported any erratic operations as far as speed goes. It was more of , it appeared that the operator of the smaller vehicle either fell a sleep or had some medical condition or something that caused him to be distracted and cross over," Ellsworth Police Department Sgt. Glenn Moshier said.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim.
