BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER)-- Before and after the parade in Bangor, people were showing their support for the LGBT community during the Bangor Pride Festival at West Market Square.
The co-coordinator of the festival Greg Music said this was a great way for everyone to come out and learn more about the LGBT community.
He said one of the reasons why he helps put on the festival is to aid young people in the LGBT community and give them a place to feel supported.
"I am thrilled because I see so many young people who have been hidden, scared, frightened before, are out and welcome and seeing role models in other people and feeling welcome. That's what this day is about. After all it should be about taking care of our young people," Music said.
Music also said he hopes that everyone who came to the festival left with an open mind and thinks that it is ok to be different.
