MILBRIDGE, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - A young man from the town of Milbridge has died after a car crash in his home town.
The Washington County Sheriff's Department says a Jared Dorr was driving too fast, and was was likely drunk, when he crashed on Wyman road Saturday night.
Sheriff's Deputies say Dorr lost control of the truck he was driving on a curve and the vehicle rolled into a tree.
Dorr was thrown from the vehicle and wound up pinned underneath it. Bystanders managed to pull Dorr out from the wreckage.
His passengers, Owen Fickett, of Cherryfield, and Jason Redimarker, of Addison, were also hurt in the crash.
All three were taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. Redimarker and Dorr were then transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center due to the extent of their injuries.
That is where Dorr passed away.
Fickett was treated and released. As of Sunday evening, Redimarker is still in the hospital.
Deputies say none of the occupants was wearing his seat belt.
Lieutenant Travis Willey says that since Dorr was driving, it is unlikely there will be any criminal charges in the case.
