SOUTHWEST HARBOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- The Hinckley T34 is the name of The Hinckley Boat Company's newest vessel. The public got a first hand look at the boat's beauty and speed today at its christening in Southwest Harbor.
The T34 is around 34 feet long, and weighs in at roughly 14,000 pounds. Hinckley President and CEO, James McManus, built it to serve as a go-anywhere, do-anything day boat that would meet all water enthusiasts' needs. "If you fish you can fish on this boat. If you have a young family, or you want to tube with your family, or ski, it's perfect for that," said McManus. "And it's got all the elegance of a Hinckley."
Another factor that was important in the production of the T34 was speed. "The one thing the boaters we talked to aren't prepared to give up is speed," said McManus. The new boat tops out at speeds of up to 32 knots.
This is the second boat launch in less than 6 months for the company that builds its boats in Trenton and operates eight service yards along the east coast, including the Southwest Harbor yard where its newsest boat was launched.
The Hinckley T34 is available for purchase, starting at around $500,000.
