CAPE ELIZABETH, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A fire in Cape Elizabeth has left a home unlivable for the time being.
Firefighters got the call shortly after midnight at 3 Odyssey Lane. The one person living there got out safely, but some pets were trapped and died.
The heat got to be too much for one of the firefighters who had to be treated at the scene.
Before the fire was brought under control, firefighters tell us it destroyed the garage and caused severe smoke and heat damage to the house.
Investigators from the state fire marshal's office will be there today to try to figure out what set the fire off.
