EDGECOMB, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Fourth of July doesn't normally bring images of last minute shoppers -- but that may change now that consumer fireworks became legal in Maine.

Shoppers were lining up today at stores like Pyro City in Edgecomb, looking for a chance to make some noise to celebrate Independence Day. Several shoppers told NEWS CENTER they had already bought some fireworks in the last few days, set them off and had come back for more. Another buyer said she was having a big party at the lake.

The store manager said the past few days had been very busy, and he expected shoppers until the 9:00 PM closing time --just before dark, when fireworks are at their best. Store workers like public safety officials around Maine, were advising people to be careful.
