BANGOR, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Police in Bangor are investigating a July 4th stabbing near the area of Dunkin Donuts on Main Street.
Investigators say while the fireworks show was going on around 9:45pm, two women got into an argument and it escalated into a physical altercation. Police say a third woman intervened with a knife and stabbed one of the arguing women twice -- in the back and the neck.
The stabbing suspect fled on foot. Police describe her as a caucasian female with a rugged build; curly, red hair that is below-shoulder length. She was wearing a dark shirt and dark pants.
The victim is an 18-year-old woman from Bangor. Police say a 42-year-old man from Glenburn tried to stop the assault and was cut on the hand. Both victims' injuries are non-life-threatening.
