JACKMAN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) --  A heavy equipment mechanic who was working on a timber harvester in Jackman on the Fourth of July died after being pinned between the harvester and another truck.

Authorities say 46 year old Bruno Cloutier of St. Zacharie Quebec was working on the Harvester on the Route 6 Cutoff Road in Jackman just before noon when the accident occurred.  The Harvest operator was apparently backing up the vehicle so Cloutier could have better access to the vehicle to make the repairs.

Authorities say Cloutier suffered severe injuries to his right thigh and pelvis area.  The harvester operator and a supervisor began CPR and other medical procedures while waiting for the Jackman Ambulance service to arrive. Paramedics pronounced Cloutier dead at the scene.

The Somerset Sheriff's Office, OSHA and the State Medical Examiners Office are investigating.  The Harvest Operator works for R.G. Lumber, which is based in Quebec.
