MACHIAS, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- A man from Machias has been found safe after going missing for four days.

Wardens searched the area, finding various clues like footprints and, eventually, Townsend's car.

Searchers sounded their sirens, hoping to catch Townsend's attention... And it worked... Searchers found him and gave him food and water.

Wardens say Townsend spent the first two nights in his car, then he found an old camp nearby.

Townsend ate an old can of peas at the camp one night, then a can of baked beans the following night.

He told wardens he was glad he was found when he was... The only other can left at the camp was Alpo dog food.
