T7R9, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Maine Game Wardens came to the rescue of an injured 16-year-old girl from Wisconsin in the back woods of Piscataquis County.
She was hiking the Appalachian Trail on Friday with a group of 11 girls from the "American Youth Foundation" when she hurt her ankle and couldn't go on.
A team of 25 people answered her call for help and met up with her on Saturday morning between Third and Fourth Mountains, just north of Baxter State Park.
It took about four hours to carry her out of the woods. Once in the clear, she was was sent to Dean Hospital in Greenville for treatment.
