AUBURN, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Two people are found dead in a burned out car in Auburn.
Police say the car caught fire after a violent crash. The car was found just after 1:00 AM on Tuesday on Merrow Road. Police and fire crews arrived to find the car in flames.
Results of a preliminary investigation show that the car left the road, hit the tree, then rolled several times before coming to rest in the middle of the roadway bursting into flames.
The State Medical Examiner will work on identifying the victims.
Police say speed may have been a factor in the crash.
