SANFORD, Maine (NEWS CENTER) - The FAA is at the scene of an accident involving a plane at Sanford Regional Airport. Shortly after three o'clock this afternoon, a light aircraft with a student pilot in the cockpit attempted to make a landing.
Airport officials say he attempted two unsuccessful landings. On his third try, a gust of wind pushed the plane forward, causing damage the propeller, and leaving the plane nose down on the runway. The student pilot was the only person on board. He was not injured. He DID have a permit that allowed him to attempt solo flights.
